Market Update
April 17, 2009
The first quarter of the year has seen some recovery in prices of material mostly due to increased internal consumption in China. The feedstock material generated in the UK has seen some dramatic downturn in the likes of the automotive and parts suppliers where production has slowed down considerably. On the positive side Local Council Recycling continues to grow with many types of council under pressure to meet their recycling targets and there seems to be ample provision of plastic bottles. The supermarkets continue to provide cardboard and plastics in good volume.
There is some interest in when the consumption of scrap steel in UK will reach last years rates. This has resulted in a lot of stock remaining unprocessed in the UK.
We have had a positive start to the year with significant growth in exports of Cardboard, Steel Cans and Aluminium.
Our policy of continuing to export in the last quarter of last year when things were difficult has proven to be beneficial. Many customers were let down by other reprocessors who had problems finding a home for their material. They have remained loyal to us and have continued to supply our requirements.
We operate in four continents of the world and still have very strong demand not only from the traditional Chinese market.
We are actively seeking more material including Steel Cans, Aluminium, Cardboard and the full range of Plastic materials.
As many customers are having cash flow problems during the credit crunch we can arrange fast-track payment till we establish a credit history.
