Following their recent board meeting EurokeyRecycling Ltd announce its intention to pursue certification to SA 8000 Ethical Standard to ensure that the reprocessing companies we use are an “Approved Supplier in terms of Ethical Trading”
Managing Director John Dhillon stated “We have always ensured that our material is reprocessed by responsible companies by adhering to the Environment Agency’s TFS standard but we wanted to ensure that our UK customers had even greater peace of mind that the product they are supplying us is being dealt with in an Ethical manner.
Amongst other things the standard ensures that no child bonded or involuntary labour is employed.
That labour has freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining and that the working conditions are clean and safe.
We also ensure that the workers are paid a living wage and do not have to work excessive hours.
We also pay particular attention in ensuring that the recycling process does not harm the Environment.”
A number of large retail outlets have been working on Ethical Trading for a number of years. They have well respected methods to ensure that people are being dealt with in an Ethical Manner. The Standard ensures that these are maintained and that final destination recycling sites are independently inspected.
John further stated “We know that recycling companies in the UK are under pressure because of the “Crunch” and wanted our customers to know that we would not cut any corners in ensuring that we maintain our Ethical Standards.
